Starter Rank the following characters in order of their importance in the novel. Be prepared to say why you think this. Mr Peirce Natalie Tulip Mrs Golightly Mrs Barnes Mr Barnes

Let’s read

What do you think…? What’s the worst thing Tulip has done so far in the novel? Why? What do you think Natalie has dealt with in the worst manner? Why? How would you have dealt with that situation? What do you think Mrs Barnes thinks about Tulip?

Role Play In pairs one of you is going to be Mrs Barnes and one of you is going to be Mrs Peirce. Write a short conversation between the two and be prepared to perform in twenty minutes.

Peer Assessment You will choose another pair in the room – SHH! You will write their name in your book and answer the following questions when they perform: What did they do well? What can they improve? How does Tulip impact these two characters?

Have you met today’s objectives? Lesson Objectives: To understand the events at the start of Part 3. To consider how Tulip impacts some of the minor characters in the novel.
