Clickers: A Touch of Class

Clickers: What are They? Clickers are Personal Response Systems that provide instructors with instant feedback from informal quizzes and polls. Student reply anonymous and the results are recorded to show the distribution of right and wrong answers. Similar to polling an audience in Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Clickers: Enable Faculty to… Create a comfortable environment in which all students can participateeven shy students; Increase student interaction, especially in large lecture halls; Determine if students are understanding the material; Accurately track student attendance and participation.

Clickers: Enable Students to… Feel comfortable about answering questions in large classes because their responses are anonymous; Collaborate to form a response; Compare their level of understanding with that of their peers; Explore concepts in a fun and interactive way. How to Play CID Jeopardy: Choose players or groups. (Individuals or Teams can play.) Use clickers for teams to indicate their answers. Player #1 or Team #1 goes first by choosing a category and dollar value. (They do not have to start with lowest values.) Instructor needs to engage and then reads the answer. Instructors clicks the start button, and all teams/individuals respond. When the timer runs out or when the instructor ends the question, View the chart and generate discussion. Disengage the question and click the game board button to return to the gameboard and complete more squares. Select the Final Jeopardy button when all game squares are completed.
