Prepositional phrases There are two types of prepositional phrases which I’m going to talk about , but first let me inform you about prepositional phrases. Prepositional phrases always begin with a preposition (obviously), and ends with an object which then is called object of preposition.
Prepositional phrases The prepositional phrase may have more than one object. All modifiers of the object(s) are part of the prepositional phrase. Ex: this gift is for you In the previous sentence the word for is the preposition and the word you is the object of preposition.
Prepositional phrases A prepositional phrase adds information to a sentence by modifying another word in the sentence. Ex: my boi Mshary was born in 2002 In the previous sentence the word born was modified by giving the date of when was he/she born.
Prepositional phrases Sometimes more than on e prepositional phrase is used to modify one word Ex: In 2016, families were killed in Mcdonalds by Ronald McDonald. In the previous sentence the phrase in 2016 and the phrase in McDonalds where modifying the verb killed.
Prepositional phrases: Adjective and Adverb Phrases When a prepositional phrase modify a noun or a pronoun, the phrase is called an adjective phrase. Ex: Faisal beside Mo3tasem turns out to be a male! In the previous sentence the word faisal which is a noun is modified by the adjective phrase beside mo3tasem.
Prepositional phrases: Adjective and Adverb Phrases When a prepositional phrase modifies an adjective , an adverb, or a verb, the phrase is called adverb phrase. Ex: I am sitting on a chair. In the previous sentence the verb sitting is modified by the phrase on a chair. Ex: Lara is the prettiest of all the girls in GEMS American Academy Qatar. ;)
