“If they give you ruled paper, write the other way “If they give you ruled paper, write the other way.” Juan Ramon Jimenez Use your brain to think about the above quotation. The quotation precedes part 1 of Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. What do you think is the significance of this quotation? What does it mean to “write the other way”? use complete sentences (obvi) and write enough to actually say something. Put your name on it, today’s date, and turn it in.

Reading journal How: Paper and pencil When: Throughout time reading the book; Split into 3 sections – one for each section of the book. Notetaking strategy: Cornell notes Expect weekly and surprise checks. The work is there or it isn’t. Focus on Characters: what things do they say, do, think that tell us more about who they are? Symbols: How are the following symbols used in the novel? You might need to define some of the words first. Then, look for when they are used or how they represent an idea.
