Classroom Newsletter May 28, 2018 Mrs. Burrell’s Class Classroom Newsletter May 28, 2018 Burrell’s Bits June 4th has been scheduled as a makeup day for January 17th. Schools were closed due to snow and ice. Each year the district has three additional days built into the school calendar for potential makeup days. June 4th was originally scheduled as a teacher workday. June 1st and June 4th are Early Dismissal days! My Middle School of Pacolet Parents: Please remember that you need to sign your child out after the 5th grade Award’s Day. You will take them to MSP for rising 6th grade Orientation. It is from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with your child this year. Some of these students I have had for three years, some I have had for two years, some I have had for one year, and some I have only had for a few short months. Watching them grow academically, socially, physically, and emotionally has been amazing. I am so proud of how far they have come during my time with them. We really are a family in our classroom. I get called Mom and Grandma quite a bit. I am hoping to hear great things about them in the future. My wish for them is to become the very best person they can be. Someone who never gives up; someone who is kind to others; someone who says this may be difficult, but I can keep trying until it’s not difficult; someone who isn’t afraid to take chances; someone who is proud of their accomplishments; someone who will stand up for someone else who is being bullied; and someone who believes they can do anything! Thank you so much for sharing your child with me. I look forward to hearing great things about them in the future. Enjoy your Summer Break! ALL IN, For Every Child, Every Day, Whatever It Takes! June 1st Early Dismissal Report Cards Issued June 4th Last Day!! Other Information Here 5th Grade Awards Day is a special day for your child. They need to dress nicely for this occasion. Boys should wear long pants and a nice collared shirt. Girls may wear long pants or a nice dress or skirt. Girls have been reminded not to wear short dresses or skirts (they will be sitting and getting up) or shoes with high heels (they will be going up and down steps). Please send in a daily snack for your child. We go to lunch at 12:05 and that is a long time between breakfast and lunch. Summer Break If your child doesn’t have his or her own Library Card, I encourage you to take them to your local Spartanburg County Library Branch and get one for them. You will need your ID and proof of residence in Spartanburg County. Your child needs to read over the summer. It can be the comics from the newspaper (they are online), comic books, magazines, chapter books, picture books-just read! Please make sure your child maintains their level of multiplication fluency. Call out facts to them and see how quickly they can give you the answer. If your child doesn’t have his or her own Library Card, I encourage you to take them to your local Spartanburg County Library Branch and get them one. You will need your ID and proof of residence. Please see my contact information below. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions or concerns. I will get in touch with you as soon as possible. We are a team and we need to work together in order for your child to be the best student they c Classroom Inspiration “This is your life. Try new things, find out which things you love, and do them often. Make time for your family and good friends. Work hard. Love harder. Don’t be afraid to cry or laugh. Be inspired and inspire others. Turn off the TV and go outside. Sing like no one is listening. Dance like no one is watching. Learn something new every day and share it with someone. Follow your dreams and let them take you to new places. Be an individual, others will respect you for it. Know your faults and strive to be a little better every day. Stop worrying and start trusting. Hang on to your past, but look forward to your future. Forgive and forget. Seize the moment. Travel often. Smile often. Love often. You only live one.” Unknown
