Art, Design & Technology English This term we will looking at a variety of genres in literacy, the three main areas being: Science Fiction Diary entries Letter writing We will also cover a variety of punctuation, spelling and grammar rules in preparation for the GPS test and to add extra sparkle and variety to our writing. Music The children shall be exploring lyrics and melody and composing their own songs. Art, Design & Technology The children will be creating an underwater-themed collage as a class. P.E. The children will be studying invasion games and how to improve their ABC (agility, balance and co-ordination). Mathematics We will be going over many of the key areas of mathematics this term in order to revise for the SATS. This will include: A wide variety of reasoning problems Scale factor Calculations involving brackets and missing numbers All 4 formal written calculations Shape, space and measure Converting between decimals, fractions and percentages. Year 6 Term 5 2018 History/Geography We begin a new topic this term and will be learning all about rivers, oceans, islands, coastlines and the water system. We will be exploring: What the water cycle is What the different features of river systems are What the world’s most famous rivers The different oceans and seas in the world and their habitats French Mrs Holt will teach a series of French lessons this term covering a variety of subjects. Science We will be studying electricity this term and will focus on: How to illustrate, read and build circuits Conductors and insulators RE We will look at Christian places of worship this term, covering a variety of different Christian faiths and how the buildings differ or are similar. Computing We will be creating our own adventure game books using Powerpoint.
