Presentation transcript:

Grab a Half Sheet from the FRONT Write what you expect your grade to be on the test we took last class. Why do you expect that grade? Did you complete the Take Home test? March 12, 2015 A March 13, 2015 B

What do we need to know for our EOC? ONLY 18 Class Periods AWAY!!!! SWBAT explain how energy flows through organisms in the ecosystem. SWBAT describe the methods organisms use to obtain energy (producers, consumers, and decomposers).

How will we get there? Last Class: This class Quarter 3 midterm exam Handout Food chains and food webs Pg 47 To be completed for homework Paste in on Page 47 This class Video: predators!!! Make up test Review of page 47 home learning Marine food web: Page 46 LAB: Building food webs and food chains Home learning: New flash card words

Let’s watch some predators in action! Let’s discuss video viewing procedures!

Did you take the test last class? If not, grab a pencil and your scan sheet. You will sit in the lab area. Follow all directions! 

Let’s review page 47 (Home Learning) Take out notebook page 47. We will review this handout together. Grab a highlighter! We’ll look at the notes now and review the practice later. 

Marine Ecosystem food web notebook page 46 Open the textbook to page 410. With a partner answer the following questions on page 46 in your notebook. Identify a producer from the food web. Identify a food chain with 3 organisms from the food web. What do the yellow arrows represent? Which organism, if removed, would impact the food web the most? EXPLAIN your answer. Extra Credit: Predict how an oil spill would affect the heterotrophs of this food web.

Lab: Food Chains and Food webs Page 49 In your groups you will follow the directions on the hand out. When your group gets to step 10b. raise your hand. I will give you paper. Note: There is NO writing necessary until you get to step 10!

Independent Lab Analysis: Page 48 Look back in your notes!!! Think!!! Independent Lab Analysis: Page 48 Describe the relationship between your food chain and your group’s food web. Hint: What does the food web that your group constructed say about organisms’ interdependence? In your food chain which organism would need to be the most abundant? Explain why. Why could it be a serious problem if a new secondary consumer, with no predators, were introduced into your group’s food web? Explain and show your work! Demonstrate your knowledge!!!

Let’s review page 49 and the analysis questions on page 48. Check your Work! Let’s review page 49 and the analysis questions on page 48. Raise your hand to participate!

Home learning FLASH CARDS and STUDY! Quiz next class on food chains and food webs. Next topic: water and carbon cycle Start thinking: How does you knowledge of the 4 macromolecules tie into what you predict might happen in the carbon cycle?
