Dawsons Training is a part of The Dawsons Group of Companies which is one of Australias largest privately owned industrial service operations made up of seven separate and complimentary divisions: Engineering Construction Labour Hire Training Service Contracts Asbestos and Demolition Waterjet Cutting

Dawsons Training Division was strategically set up to ensure that Dawsons Group of Companies personnel have the most up to date qualifications as required by our clients both on remote sites and within our workshops. In October 2011 Dawsons Training become a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering quality, nationally accredited training.

As an established RTO, Dawsons Training have successfully trained over 3000 course participants. Our aim is to be a flexible, quality training provider with a focus on industry specific training delivered in flexible arrangements at our on-site training centre or off-site using client facilities.

At Dawsons we recognise that engagement with industry is critically important to developing training, assessment strategies and resources that accurately reflect the needs of industry and the expectation of employees. We continually monitor and update the appropriateness of training, assessment strategies and resources through our site visits and employer and participant feedback.

Our training facility at Cairns is made up of three purpose built training rooms with a capacity of 25 participants in each. As an active work site, workshop facilities, yard areas and mobile plant are available for high risk training courses.

Each training room is fully equipped and supplemented with practical equipment to provide hands on and real life training experience.

Our location is near to the Cairns city and domestic/international airport enabling easy access for clients travelling to and from work sites. Our training rooms are always available for hire for external use, either ½ day or full day.

Our site is purposely set up to allow for practical simulations that enables trainers to demonstrate and participants to be involved in, realistic scenarios and training activities, using quality controlled tag and tested equipment such as harnesses, winches and safety equipment.

Our trainers draw on a diversity of experience in mining, transport, milling and various government industries throughout Australia. They have the advantage of retaining close working relationships within these industries to ensure the most current, industry specific knowledge and experience is passed on.

Coming from a range of cultural and diverse backgrounds our staff is culturally aware and sensitive to a range of learning styles. Dawsons Training culture is one of pride, success and hard work. All our staff are passionate about training.

At Dawsons we are committed to the continuous improvement of our training and assessment services, participant services and management systems. Central to this commitment is our quality assurance policy which outlines our approach to continuous improvement. The procedures we apply to achieve systematic and sustained improvement includes internal and external audits and participant and employer feedback. In line with this procedure our staff, trainers and assessors have input into the validation and continuous improvement processes.

Dawsons Training will issue persons whom it has assessed as competent, in accordance with the requirements of the Training Package or accredited course, a qualification or statement of attainment (as appropriate) that is compliant with the National Training Standards. All statements of attainment are issued in accordance with the Australian Qualification Framework and include the Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) logo.

Dawsons Training provides a range of nationally accredited courses. We strive to ensure our course content is current, with up to date information supported by real life scenarios and activities. Our trainers and assessors are in regular contact with industry for consultation, and as a result participants leave with industry specific knowledge together with their qualification.
