Presentation transcript:

25 years of advances in the definition, classification and treatment of status epilepticus  Eugen Trinka, Reetta Kälviäinen  Seizure - European Journal of Epilepsy  Volume 44, Pages 65-73 (January 2017) DOI: 10.1016/j.seizure.2016.11.001 Copyright © 2016 British Epilepsy Association Terms and Conditions

Fig. 1 Operational dimensions with t1 indicating the time that emergency treatment of SE should be started and t2 denoting the time at which long term consequences may be expected. Time (t1), when a seizure is likely to be prolonged leading to continuous seizure activity. Time (t2), when a seizure may cause long-term consequences (including neuronal injury, neuronal death, alteration of neuronal networks and functional deficits). For generalized tonic clonic status the stages have been added (stage I 5–10min; stage II 10–30min; stage III 30–30min) [13].
