The Citizen’s Role in the Community

Services Communities Provide Communities can include many different things Family, School, Neighborhood Family and school teach you values, traditions, behaviors, and cooperation Government provide public safety, schools, and trash collection These are called public services What a community provides depends on its size Federal government will provide service for entire country Local governments will provide services for state, county, and city

Responsibilities to the Community Citizens must try to make the community a better place to live Good citizens care about the welfare of others Responsible citizens will also try to care for the environment in the community Highway cleanup Picking up trash in a public park Government agencies will also try to do these things Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Agency National Parks Service

Into Action Volunteers are needed to provide enough services for everyone There are many volunteer services that anyone can become involved with American Red Cross Hospitals Community Projects These people are essential to keeping the community functioning
