Essential Question How did these four people effect the lives of the people of France before, during, and after the French Revolution?

Louis XVI King of France during revolution Inherited debt from predecessors Borrowed money to help finance the American Revolution He was beheaded King of France during revolution Considered a weak leader Ill prepared for his role as king of France Extravagant spending for personal use Inherited debt from predecessors Borrowed money to help finance the American Revolution Louis was easily bored with affairs of state Critics accused him of being detached from the plight of 3rd estate

Marie Antoinette From the Royal House of Austria, which was a long time enemy of France. Married Louis at age 14. She was hated from the time she set foot in France. She was beheaded “Let them eat cake” Marie was also known for her extravagant spending and her enormous betting debts

Robespierre He was a key to the French Revolution Robespierre argued for the execution of Louis XVI He was instrumental in the Reign of Terror In the end he was a beheaded Maximilien Robespierre 6 May 1758–28 July 1794 is one of the best-known figures of the French Revolution. He was an influential member of the Committee of Public Safety and was instrumental in the period of the Revolution commonly known as the Reign of Terror Robespierre believed that the Terror was a time of discovering and revealing the enemy within Paris and France

Jean-Paul Marat French politician, physician, and journalist A leader of the radical Montagnard faction during the French Revolution. He was assassinated in his bath by Charlotte Corday, a young Girondin conservative.
