Essay 1

Directions: After having read the article “Out of Prison and Deep in Debt,” write an argumentative essay responding to the following essay question: Should ex-offenders get financial relief once they are released from prison? This essay should meet all of the following criteria: 1. It should be at least 400 words long. 2. It should be in standard essay format with an introduction, body, and conclusion. 3. It should respond to the essay question. 4. It should use the article as support for the essay’s thesis. 5. All ideas, quotes, or paraphrases taken from the article and used in the essay should be credited with a signal phrase. 6. The essay should also be proofread for grammatical correctness. 7. The essay should, in addition, be finished within the class period.
