CSP Project Startup Documents. John Wilkes, HPL-CSP-90-42, Hewlett-Packard Labs, Oct 1990.

Short projects need to start quickly and well Start with a plan/proposal outlining expected work Structure short work around clear hypothesis to test Problem Statement What is problem, why care, who cares Hypotheses What idea is being tested, negative results must be possible, are all alternatives actually viable & interesting, what have others done Proposal What is going to be done, why is it feasible, are you ready Experiments Describe evaluation/tests explicitly, how can you tell positive from negative result, who is doing the work and what tools are needed Results Predict kind of results being sought, indicate milestones showing progress, how do you recognize completion
