Goal: To develop our skills in efficiently collecting, sorting and organizing a range of stimulus media on to easily accessible boards for students on a specific topic. In this presentation we will look at a number of popular applications currently available to do this job, consider the functionality that these provide and challenge our thinking around what additional learning opportunities and benefits exist in utilizing these tools. We will then begin to explore how we can use Learni.st with those who wish to learn this option. Sort and Refine Board Sort the order of the resources and add comments or instructions. Help Students Access Board Provide students with a link to the board ( , Daymap…) Set up a board and research to find the best content to publish on board – complete most of board before starting unit. Complexity Often this comes as a trade- off as more complex applications may offer broader solutions. In addition to complexity to set up, the ease and time required to manage and refine content over the unit and school year should be taken into consideration. Maintenance Similar to Maintenance the ease and time required to add new content both during the unit and when on the fly during the year needs to be considered. Bookmark Some applications allow students to suggest or even add content. Student Input This process can assist the collaborative construction of knowledge. Some applications allow for easy posting of comments. This could be used to assess understanding and promote deeper learning. Comments Some applications are more mobile user friendly than others. Collaborative Knowledge Construction Write some lines about your business Collective curation involves the collection of content and resources that represent the major or definitive views of the collective around a concept or an idea. Curation recognises that there are diverse opinions, ideas and approaches within the collective, and capturing and articulating these diverse views is crucial in representing the complete knowledge of the collective. Curation Synthesis involves blending of all arguments, considerations and points of views in order to clearly articulate an idea or concept Synthesis represents the collective understanding around a topic, not the authors point of view. Synthesis Collective Meaning Making is process by which a collective constructs new knowledge. Through shared negotiation, reflection and clarification, knowledge is first introduced and then accepted, often leading to new opportunities or areas of inquiry. Through experiences and reflection built upon previous agreements and shared understanding, new knowledge is integrated into the collective knowledge.
