Aims of the ÖWAV training Self responsible, orderly and economic operation of small and medium size WWTPs Operation, maintenance and repair of machinery and measuring devices Systematic identification, judging and solving of operational breakdowns Supervision of repair and maintenance work by outside companies Surveillance of indirect dischargers (trade waste customers) Evaluation of health and safety aspects on WWTPs Organisation and orderly treatment of residuals from WWT Performing and documentation of analytical measurements Documentation of plant performance

Training of WWTP operator specialists according to ÖWAV guideline RB 15 Practical training Educational WWTP 2 weeks or Home WWTP 4 weeks Practical experience on an operating WWTP (3 respectively 2 years) Basic course 3 weeks Minimum 1 year practical experience between basic and advanced course Laboratory course 1 week In any order Mechanical engineering course 1 week Basic course in electrics 1 week *) Measurement technology course 4 days Advanced course 1 week EXAM FOR SKILLED WWTP OPERATORS 1 day *) for participants without electrical training

Attendees Approximately 1,200 participant across all ÖWAV training courses per year Since 1968 more than 27,000 participants attended individual courses Final exam for skilled WWTP operators by approx. 2,300 people (since 1984) Final exam for skilled sewage works operators by approx. 160 people (since 2008) More than 3,000 people work on Austrian wastewater treatment plants
