Room 113 News Friday October 13, 2017 Important dates: Next week’s Shine Student is Carter Wednesday 10/18: Lynd’s Trip Wednesday 10/18: Book Orders due (moved date up so books will be back before Halloween) Friday 10/20: Trunk or Treat Friday 10/27: Halloween Parade and Parties Week of 10/30: Red Ribbon Week! Important Information: There WILL NOT BE a spelling test next week! We are going to start a Literature Unit on the wonderful author Jane Yolen on Monday. One of her most popular stories is Baby Bear’s Books. This story focuses on the joy of reading, something we are working hard to foster this year! Please take a picture of your child reading in his or her favorite spot (in bed, comfy chair, with a blankie—anything goes!) and/or reading his or her favorite book at home. Please email the picture of your child to me for a special class project. I will need the pictures by Wednesday, October 18th. If you are unable to do this picture, email me and I will take a picture. (levans@cdeducation.org) Reminder: Apple Farm trip on Wednesday! School uniforms! Jackets and shoes for the weather! Parent Volunteers should meet us at Lynd’s around 10:20. FYI: First graders should be able to read the sentences on the back of Saxon HW on their own. They should also be forming the letters correctly and neatly. (Perhaps sitting at a table or desk and not on the bus…………………..) Halloween info: Children may wear their Halloween costumes to school on Friday October 27. We will have a costume parade in the gym around 8:15 in the morning. All parents are welcome to attend the parade. Our class Halloween party will be after lunch. Only pre-scheduled and approved volunteers may attend the class party. Please keep in mind that children will have to wear their Halloween costumes all day at school! They will have to be able to use the restroom on their own and make it through recess while wearing their costume. Plan accordingly!
