Focus Reality of drug use Consequences What leads to drug use? Do you believe there is a genetic factor that accounts for addiction, or is all about choices and fee-will? What are reasons someone might do drugs? Think about society. Over medicate? What do you consider “Drug Abuse”? What is acceptable drug use? And what is not? Why?

Go Ask Alice Background Activity The narrator in Go Ask Alice was largely impacted by the culture of the 1960’s. In order to gain insight into the connection between the culture of the time period and the decisions of the narrator, we must research the events and ideas that the 1960’s culture was build around.

Activity Each group will be assigned a topic that impacted either the 1960 culture or the novel. Each group will research the topic and “Teach” the class about their topic. Research topic: What is it? What do we need to know about the event? Focus on the important elements. Explain event: How did it impact the culture of the time period? -How did it impact society? Predict how these events impacted literature and art More specifically, predict how it impacted narrator in Go Ask Alice. Present to class Summarize information independently
