Revision Grids The last gradebook highlighted issues in terms of people remembering the content covered. The C boundary on the last gradebook was 13 For everyone but in particular those who got less than 13 on the last gradebook it is important that we start developing some revision materials. The revision grids include all the content from the specification. You fill them in using your knowledge, your exercise book

Revision Grids The revision grids include all the content from the specification. You fill them in using your knowledge, your exercise book, the textbook and internet research. You can either fill in a copy by hand or you can download a copy off the blog and complete it digitally (typing, cutting and pasting, importing pictures of your work). Support sessions on Fridays will be concentrating on helping you fill in these grids in preparation for the mock in December. It is important that you work on these grids outside lessons and keep going over the material to help you remember the content.

The failure of Weimar Democracy What long term factors meant that Weimar democracy might fail?

Flow Chart showing movement towards the collapse of Weimar Democracy 1930-32 Depression Bruning cut government spending and benefits Bruning hoped that Germany’s suffering would lead to sympathy and cancelling of Repararations Bruning feared hyperinflation happening again SPD pulled out of the Government Bruning had to rely on President Hindenburg using Article 48 to pass laws Election called in 1930- disastrous decision- Nazis do well Politicians seemed to be squabbling over position rather than sorting out problems in Germany. The economy kept getting worse but the Reichstag met fewer and fewer times: only 5 days in 1932 Bruning continued to use Hindenburg to bypass the democratic process

How Hitler Became Chancellor Complete a flow diagram from July Election of 1932 to the Enabling Act (24th March 1933) Explain each step and how it links to the next Include the following (I’ve deliberately not put them in the right order): The Enabling Act, Hitler appointed Chancellor, Goebbels takes control of the media, Reichstag Fire, Reichstag election of July 1932, Kurt von Schleicher made Chancellor, von Papen convinces Hindenburg that Hitler can be controlled, Reichstag elections March 1933, Nazis with support of Nationalist Party have a majority

Removal of Opposition: For each one explain why they would help remove opposition Communists arrested following the Reichstag Fire Goebbels took control of all media Enabling Act SPD party banned Civil Service, law courts and education all purged of Nazi opponents Trade Unions banned Law Against Formation of New Parties, Germany become a one-party state Concordat (agreement) between state and Catholic Church

Night of the Long Knives 29th-30th June 1934 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSjkpaXlXIE from 2.24.30 The Army feared that Rohm and the SA would take control of the army. The Night of the Long Knives was in fact a weekend when: Arrest and murder of 400 including Rohm and other leading members of the SA (accused of plotting to assassinate Hitler), along with von Schleicher and others who had opposed Hitler. The Army the swore an oath to Hitler. The SS dominated the SA

Der Fuhrer, August 1934 Soon after the Night of the Long Knives Hidenburg died Hitler combined the roles of President and Chancellor The army agreed to stay out of politics. Hitler started a massive rearmament programme and introduced conscription. Hitler controlled government, media and the armed forces. Focus task P80
