Islam

Islam and Muslims The religion is called Islam. The people who practice Islam are called Muslims.

What does Islam mean? Islam means “peace through submission to God.” Whenever a Muslim, a follower of Islam, commits themselves to the will of God.

The Life of Muhammad: The early years Muhammad was born in Mecca around the year 570 (A city of western Saudi Arabia) Mecca was not a kind, friendly culture These tribes all worshiped many different gods (polytheistic) Muhammad began working as a merchant (camel trader) and was known for his trustworthiness Muhammad and Khadija (wife) had 4 daughters and 2 sons

Islamic Beliefs Allah, Arabic for god, is indivisible and didn't have a son. He is the creator of all things and is all-powerful and all-knowing. Books of Allah: the Torah, Qur’an, Gospel, Psalms, and Scrolls. People will be judged daily on their deeds while alive, and when they die they either attain reward of heaven or punishment of hell. Hell is where sinners and unbelievers spend eternity. Everything is governed by the divine of decree.

Muslims view other religions: Muslims believe that Allah (god in Arabic) had previously revealed Himself to the earlier prophets of the Jews and Christians. Islam is one of only three monotheistic (belief in one God) religions in the world: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. They believe that Islam is the perfection of religion Moses

Prophets A prophet is a messenger of Allah. The five most important prophets are: Moses (Torah), Abraham (the Scroll), David (the Psalm), Jesus (the Gospels), and most importantly Muhammad (the Qur’an).

Allah Allah is the name of God in Arabic. You will never see an image of Allah. Muslims believe that He does not resemble any other form of creation in any way.”

The Qur’an Holy Book of Islam Written in Arabic Muslims believe that Allah revealed the Qur’an to Muhammad. Many Muslims memorize the Qur’an The Qur’an has the rules Muslims live by.

Holy book The Qu’ran is believed to be Allah’s final revelation to humankind for Muslims. It is what Muhammad received from the angel Gabriel. The passages of it consist of topics such as Allah’s power, the purpose of life, the nature of good and evil, and the afterlife. It influences Muslims in learning and education, the meaning of Qur’an is “reading”.

The Sunnah In Islam, the Arabic word “sunnah” means the way Prophet Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, lived his life. Muslims strive to live their life as Muhammad did.
