Light

Its Science, Science!!!but it’s Not Rocket

Light may reflect or bounce off of objects.

Reflection is when light bounces off an object like a mirror. Remember the angle at which it comes in is the angle at which it reflects.

Here is something to help you out. If it is shiny or has glare it is an example of relfection.

White reflects light and keeps you cool. On a hot day wear this… Don’t wear this… White reflects light and keeps you cool. Black absorbs light and turns light energy into heat energy on your back!

Refraction is when light bends. Lenses and water bend light. Lenses can make things seem larger, smaller, upside down, or closer. Water can make things look crooked or even broken!

Here are some examples of refraction.

Telescopes, microscopes, glasses, and cameras use lenses to refract light and change the image. Makes things appear larger or magnified. Makes objects appear closer and larger. Makes things appear clearer. Makes images zoom in or out.

Quiz time: Reflection or Refraction?

Reflection bounces the light. Refraction bends the light.
