BOOKS BY THIS AUTHOR Books i’ve already read for this project The Jacket(2001) Frindle(1996) The Report Card(2004) Other Books No Talking, Room One, A Week In The Woods, etc.

Summaries THE JACKET Phil has a little brother and he was looking for him, he sees his brother’s one of a kind jacket on a young black kid about his brothers age. He soon discovers his mom donated the jacket to Daniel’s grandma who is Phil’s housekeeper. FRINDLE FRINDLE is about a boy named Nick who is always getting in trouble. He has a very strict teacher that makes the class check a dictionary. Nick has an idea to make a new word, the word is FRINDLE. THE REPORT CARD Nora is a girl who is struggling in school. She gets the worst of grades. When others don’t understand why she doesn’t understand they start to change the definition of education.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR NAME: Andrew Clements BIRTHDATE: May 29, 1949 (age 68) GENRE: Children’s Lit. AWARDS: Edgar Award for Best Juvenile, Annual Book Awards LOCATION: Camden, NJ OTHER: Andrew Clements has 4 children. He wrote many different children books, 51 books at exact.

What I like. & What I didn't like about these books. The books have people who doubt and judge a lot for the main character The books were short There is always a happy ending What I liked about these books. It starts with a problem The characters are somewhat clever Friendships are made by problems between characters

Recommendation I recommend you read these books especially if you like books with happy endings. I would also recommend other books by this author because they are quick and easy and would get you the same satisfaction as a bigger book. If you like to read there are plenty of books made by this author for you to enjoy

Characters This author tends to write about characters who doubt themselves and are very curious. For example Phil was wondering why another kid had the same kind of jacket as his brother >>(THE JACKET). Nick was curious about how he could make a new word >>(FRINDLE). Nora A girl who doubted her intelligence and lacked self esteem>>(THE REPORT CARD. That is mostly how my author represents his characters in his books i”ve read.

Universal Issues/ Themes The Jacket- Don’t assume things you don't know about Ex. Phil thought Daniel stole the jacket from his brother but it turns out Phil’s mom donated the jacket to their housekeeper who is daniel’s grandmother. The Report Card- Never doubt yourself Ex. Nora is a girl who does not do her work at a full potential at one point when she worked hard enough she got a good grade. Frindle- Nobody can bring you down Ex. Nick wanted to make a new word and he tried his hardest even with his teacher, the strictest english teacher teaching him.

Andrew’s Writing Style Andrew tends to write in 3rd person The characters in the book end up having a happy ending and usually make new friends and have a great if not okay life. All of this author’s books are about little kids never adults. His writing is positive No bad language
