Class Size Waiver Exception DEIC September 21, 2015

Strategic Goal 1: Northwest ISD will design dynamic learning experiences to ensure that all students are future-ready learners.

Texas Education Code Class size limit 22:1 in K-4 (TEC) 25.112 Waivers requested from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for any classes that exceed the size limit Texas Education Code sets an allowable class size limit of 22 students to every teacher in K-4 classrooms. No limit is set beyond 5th grade. In September, each school district in Texas is required to review student enrollment in their K-4 classrooms to determine whether they meet these guidelines. For any class that exceeds the limit of 22:1, the district must submit a request to TEA for a waiver/exception.
