Battle of the Books! Homework Challenge John Mitchell Why I think my favourite book is better than all the others!

My favourite book is Ethel & Ernest By Raymond Briggs

The story is told in pictures, like a comic, with only the actual speech written down.

It is the true life story of the author’s parents. When they met, going on till they had their son and right up until they die.

The book tells us actual history, from the depression of the 1920s to the build up of WWII. How it was to live through the blitz and war , VE day and how hard it was after the war with the rations. On to the 1960s when everything was changing.

It is sad, happy, funny and a real good read It is sad, happy, funny and a real good read. It’s great for all ages, young and old.

Best because… I think Ethel & Ernest is better than other books because it is about real people, like we all know. It’s not make believe or about celebrities. It made me think about normal people’s life stories and how important they all are. Lovely illustrations with great detail. You walk through time with the characters and hear about their lives. Raymond Briggs also wrote and created The Snowman and Father Christmas and also The Snowman and Snowdog.
