Mass vs Weight Mass is a measurement of how much matter is in an object. Weight is a measurement of how hard gravity is pulling on that object. Your mass is the same wherever you are (Earth, moon, floating in space) The amount of stuff you are made of doesn't change. Your weight, however, depends on how much gravity is pulling on you at the moment. You would weigh less on the moon than on Earth, and in a galaxy far far away you would weigh almost nothing at all.
