Islam

Review of Islam Islam is a religion practiced by Muslims around the world. It is the 2nd largest religion. Islam is founded by a prophet named Muhammad. Islam follows the teachings of Muhammad which were passed to him by their God Allah.

Review of Islam Continued 4. Muhammad’s teachings are written in a book called the Qur’an which is the book of Islam. 5. Islam followers practice what is called the Five Pillars of Islam. Those 5 pillars are: Say there is no other God but Allah and Muhammad is the prophet. 2. Pray 5 times a day. 3. Give to the church and poor. 4. Fast during Ramadan. 5. Travel to Mecca once in a lifetime.

Spread of Islam Continued 7. Islam had spread rapidly throughout the Middle East, Asia and Northern Africa. 8. Since it has spread rapidly and the only language the Qur’an is written in is Arabic, the Arabic language has become the common language of the land.

Division of Islam 9. After Muhammad’s death, Islam went in different directions. Some people followed the Sunni and some followed the Shi’ah. 10. This division was sparked because both groups wanted different leaders of the faith.

Contributions of Islamic Faith There have been many contributions from the Islamic faith to the world. They have added many government, family, science, math, art and literature contributions. The Islamic faith have added contributions like algebra, pillars with building structures, rugs, compasses, democratic forms of governments with elected officials, and developments with medicine through studies of anatomy by dissection.
