8-6 Solving Rational Equations and Inequalities Clear all fractions, solve a linear or quadratic equation or inequality.

Equations that contain one or more rational expressions are called rational equations. The same concepts and skills used to solve linear equations can be used to solve rational equations once the fractions are eliminated using the LCD. All solutions found should be checked in the original equation to identify extraneous solutions.
