Candle and Water Lab EQ- What are the key components to experimental design? By: Amber Tharpe

Obtain a pie pan, 2 candles, a lighter, a beaker, and a small clump of clay Place the clay in the center of the pan and stick the candle in it Fill the pan will about 1 in of water Light the candle and place the beaker over the candle Observe what happens and write them down

Write a question for a new experiment you would like to perform based on your observations (ideas of variables to change- water, candles, time, ect) Write your hypothesis for the experiment Write your independent and dependent variables then test your experiment Write your data for your experiment State your conclusion for your experiment Write down the steps for the scientific method
