Title: Were the Gunpowder plotters framed? The traditional story of the Gunpowder plot suggests that the Catholic conspirators plotted to kill the king with gunpowder. But they were foiled when Francis Tresham sent a letter to Lord Monteagle who passed it on to Robert Cecil who discovered Guy Fawkes. But is there more to it than that..... Some Historians believe the plotters were framed by James and Robert Cecil. It has become an historical conspiracy theory.

Title: Were the Gunpowder plotters framed? We need to have a look at the evidence on both sides. The one chilli contains the evidence both for and against the conspiracy theory. We need to colour code the evidence so we can start to build an overall picture and develop our own opinion Read the two chilli evidence and decide if it suggests the plotters were framed or guilty. Then select the 3 pieces of evidence for guilty and 3 for framed 10 minutes
