Quick Project Overview Uses GPS to record distance run Stores Data on SD card after run completed Displays information to user in an easy-to-understand format

General Block Diagram MCU LCD Screen Input Buttons Optical Encoder 15 1 GPS Receiver PA/PM/PB 1 SD Card R/W SCI 1 1 SCI 2 1 MCU Speaker 5 Power Supply Circuit 1 PWM 0 PB/PT 1 PAD PAD 3 2 Input Buttons Optical Encoder

Power Supply Block Diagram 5.0 V (150 mA current requirement) Battery Charging IC (Select) Battery (3-4.2 V) Wallwart (5 V) 4.35 V 5.0 V Boost 3.8 V (25 mA current requirement) LDO 3.0 V (25 mA current requirement) LDO

PCB Layout Considerations GPS positioned as far as possible from the battery and power supply circuit to limit noise Bypass capacitors close to parts Short traces between Rx and Tx lines for SCI Try to keep the LCD trace lengths close to the same Try to keep the design small and compact while leaving enough room for traces and spacing Include headers (especially necessary to check MCU-LCD connections)
