Interest Groups Interest Groups A group of people banded together for a common purpose. Examples: NRA- National Rifle Association. NAACP- National Association for the Advancement of Colored People AARP- American Association of Retired People.

Lobbyists Lobbyists Someone who tries to persuade legislators to vote for legislation Often these are people paid to try and change how people vote.

Example: Interest Group: ACS CAN Lobbyist: Mr. Neanover

Good or Bad? Good Bad Bring attention to specific issues Lobbyists work for organizations that know more about issues than a lot of politicians. Ex: ACS CAN People listen to who give them money Contributions come with strings attached.
