Things Fall Apart: Gender Roles By: Rebekah Berto E.A. 3.1 January 28

Differents/similarities between American and Igbo women's roles America women Igbo women Women do not have to serve their husband right away or at all. Lives in the same house with her husband. Women are expected to make their husbands food and feed it to them right away. Women are a weaker sex. Women live in their own hut with their children.

Igbo women's roles First picture, women carrying water and food for family. Second picture, women take care of the children and their home. Third picture, women also make jewelry and clothes.

Differents/similarities between American and Igbo men's role American men Igbo men Men only have one wife at a time. Provide for their family. Men have more freedom in how they raise their child. Lives in the same house. Men can have as many wives as they want. Provide for their family. They are expected to be dominant and to raise their sons with discipline and tradition. Live in their own hut without their wives.

Igbo men's roles First picture, Only men can wrestle. Second picture, men out working in their family's farm. Third picture, only men can go to war.
