What was the Women’s Liberation Movement? Lesson Aim: To judge the extent to which women’s lives changed.

What was the Women’s Liberation Movement? This was the beginning of feminism, In 1956, two female sociologists wrote the book ‘Women’s Two Roles: Home and Work.’ It argued that there should be a fairer distribution of work and leisure between the sexes. However, many were not influenced by the book or had even heard of it! For some it was inspirational e.g. the Six Point Group (political, occupational, moral, social, economic and legal equality for women. What was the campaign for women’s liberation? 1970 national conference they discussed: Equal pay/education, 24 hour nurseries and free contraception and abortion on demand.
