Introduction Elizabeth Zane is a heroine of the revolutionary war for her defense of fort henry. Elizabeth was born on July 19 1759 and she died away on August 23 1823

Early Life *Elizabeth Zane know as Betty was the daughter of William and Nancy Zane *Elizabeth was born on July 19 1759 in Moorefield, Virginia. *Elizabeth moved with her family at an early age to the area that is now West Virginia . *Elizabeth's older broth Ebenezer Zane pioneered this area in Ohio valley. this is Ebenezer Zane Elizabeth’s  older brother

Adult Hood Elizabeth was married twice and was a mother of six children . Elizabeth’s first husband was Ephraim McLaughlin and she had four children with him. After Ephraim died she married Jacob Clark she had a son and a daughter while she was married with him.

Death And Legacy Elizabeth died on August 23 1823  she was buried in Walnut Grove Pioneer Cemetery in Martins ferry, Ohio. Elizabeth will always be remembered as an amazing hero for her defense of fort henry.
