The Physical Geography of Earth Chapter 2 Section 4
4 Parts of Earth’s Physical Geography Atmosphere Lithosphere Hydrosphere Biosphere
Atmosphere The blanket of gases and air surrounding the earth. Problem in the Atmosphere: Air pollution from cars and factories causes acid rain. It kills fish and plants and eats away surfaces of roads and buildings. Pollution is tearing down the ozone layer. It is the layer of air that protects the Earth from sun rays.
Lithosphere The earth’s hard outer shell known as land. Problems in the Lithosphere Land may erode or wear away because of erosion and cutting down plants and trees.
Hydrosphere All the water on Earth Hydrosphere All the water on Earth. It includes oceans, lakes, rivers, glaciers, and precipitation.
Biosphere All living things on the Earth and their environments. Ecosystems make up the Biosphere. They are places where plants and animals depend on each other.
