Real-time investigation of the dynamic structural changes of metal oxide nanocrystals Dong Hee Son, Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M university College Station Texas 77842 Modulation of absorption due to coherent lattice motion is observed in optically excited iron oxide nanocrystals. Optically induced demagnetization in iron oxide nanocrystal exhibit dependence on the particle size, while transient absorption does not. Size-dependence in the magnitude of demagnetization may originate from the size-dependent cooperativeness of spins. Construction of laser-based x-ray source
