Working Together March 2016 Meeting Howard Blumenfeld, Marsha Vernoga, Steve Chiolis

Reflections from FLEX Day Activity Let’s hear from each of us individually about our small group experiences as well as the overall impression of our FLEX Day activity. I will hand back posterboards to each of you to assist you in describing your experiences.

Future Topics for Discussion Red hand for teachers – faculty could go to anothers’ office and discuss issues with confidentiality.

Future Topics for Discussion Feeling unprepared, feeling vulernable bc of perception by students, burden of being seen as the expert, self-perception, making mistakes, noticing seasons in teaching (fluctuations in energy levels), acknowledging mistakes makes risk taking acceptable, embracing worldview of students

Future Topics for Discussion Work/life balance (guilt of not doing more), no chance to reflect

Future Topics for Discussion Difficulty teaching contentious classes (humor helps), not having regular & consistent feedback, disruptive students, boxes of fear
