My Canadian History Project The Cree Indians By: Luke Hughes

How They Got Here The Cree aboriginals got here by a land route from Siberia during the ice age. When the aboriginals got here most of the Americas where covered in ice. The green symbolizes the ice. The red is rock.

Habitat These aboriginals were placed all around Canada ranging from modern day central Quebec to the western plains of Canada. They didn’t start all apart and separated they did so over a span of generations.

Aboriginal Regions

Tribes! During their migration in the Americas the aboriginals broke apart and eventually even into smaller groups. The Cree aboriginals had five major bands or in other words tribes.

The Bands

Military - The Cree aboriginals used the bones from their kills like buffalo, moose, deer and bear. After the aboriginals where done with eating, skinning for clothing they saved the bones for this reason.

Clothing The Cree used every part of the animal to their advantage after the kill. One of these advantages the Cree took into consideration was the skin and fur on the animal for warmth and protection.

Religion and Beliefs To the Cree aboriginals religion was a important part of their culture but in some bands it played a more significant roll. These aboriginals believed that their lives where to be that of an animals and of the same significance that is why after a kill the Cree would give their sacrifice a respectful send off with a ceremony. This picture is a ceremonial practice that had taken place with the Prairie Cree many generations ago.
