The Lewis Dot Structure Packet #13

Introduction Bonding involves just the use of valence electrons on the most outer shell of an atom. For example, valence electrons are transferred when a metal and non-metal react Ionic Bond The Lewis Dot structure is a representation of a molecule that shows how valence electrons are arranged among the atoms in the molecule.

Introduction II The general rule for writing Lewis Dot structures are based on the concept that “the most important requirement for the formation of a stable compound is that the atoms achieve noble gas electron configurations.

Examples of Lewis Dot Structures

Examples of Lewis Dot Structures It is important to note that when completing the Lewis Dot structure for any atom, just like the Bohr Model, it should match what is seen when the electron configuration is completed.
