What is a rain forest ? A rainforest is a forest that gets lots of rain and it is hot and wet all year.

Location of Rain Forests Rainforest are in Central America in North America ,The Amazon Rainforest is in South America. Congo River Basin and Madagascar are in Africa. The rainforests of Asia cover lots of islands.

Emergent layer This is the highest layer with harpy eagles, parrots, and toucans . It gets most of the rain and sun light.

Canopy The Canopy also gets most of the rain and sun light and this shades every thing like an umbrella.

Understory Layer The under story holds some of the water and is very dark and moist all the the time. Many creatures live in the under story like anteaters, red eyed tree frog, and monkeys.

Forest Floor The forest floor is dark, moist and its covered with fallen leaves , fruits and flowers and the huge roots of trees.

Deforestation Rainforests are being cut down to make space for farming and we make it into paper, furniture, flooring, and firewood. That means we will have less oxygen and animals.

People of the Rain Forest Rainforest people can take from the rainforest without doing harm. They paint their bodies with colorful dyes and use feathers ,flowers ,and other natural materials to make pieces of jewelry.
