SLCC 2600 Chapter 5 Stages of Play Assignment Cheryl Moyle Olympus High School
First Stage - Solitary Play This is the solitary stage because the child is playing alone.
Second Stage - Onlooker Play The children are independently playing, but watching another child. No communication is occurring.
Third Stage - Parallel Play The children are independently playing with the markers, but not playing together.
Forth Stage - Associative Play The children have created roles to act out and are playing together. If one child were to leave the other could still play.
Fifth Stage - Cooperative Play The children are playing together keeping score of who wins each round. If one child were to leave, the purpose of keeping score would be eliminated.
Using the magazines, type paper, glue and the instruction worksheet find a picture that represents each stage, label the stage and explain why it is a good example of that stage of play.
