Planners/Preparation Students are to come to class prepared everyday with homework and supplies. They must have their planner with them at all times. The planner is an organization/communication tool. I will write notes about progress and behavior in it. It should be checked by a guardian daily. If a daily planner check needs to be instituted by both the teacher/guardian that can easily be started.

Suggested Supplies MATH: 3-Ring Binder & Filler Paper 2 Sections Notes CW/HW Pocket Folder Pencils, Pens, Eraser & Pencil Case All workbooks are consumable At anytime students can access the Pearson website to access the student workbook and activities.

District Grading Policy Math: Assessment = 60% Classwork = 20% Homework = 20% Quizzes/Tests requiring parent/guardian signature. Teacher discretion.

Grading Scale 90-100 = Outstanding 80-89 = Above Average 65-69 = Passing but below average 64 and below = Not passing Assessments below 70 require a guardian signature.

Homework Khan Academy & Sumdog – These sites can be utilized any time there is down time at home. They are fantastic sites to help increase understanding of new concepts and develop mastery. www.khanacademy.org www.sumdog.com Educational APPS – Math Facts (Practice Multiplication) Worksheets/Consumable Workbook – 3 to 4 times a week.

Report Cards Interim report notifying you of your child’s progress is no longer sent through the district. Please check the portal throughout the marking period. It is updated almost daily. Report cards are posted quarterly. (GO GREEN)

GO Green Log onto the Jackson School District website to view the class page and to gain access to the Pearson website. Log onto Portal to check grades Get updated parent information on the ParentLink Get updated information from both the district and community through the E-Backpack.

Afterschool Help Afterschool help varies each week depending on meetings, conferences, etc. Any assessment below 70 I will add 10% points to their original score if he/she stays after school for corrections with the teacher. This must be done within two weeks from taking the original assessment. Extra Help is from 2:30-3:00. (Posted on the class page) Students will take the 3:40 bus home. (Note: If picking up your child you must come into the building and have him/her buzzed from the front office. Be here for 3pm.)

Math Assessments Assessments can consist of multiple choice, fill in the blank, short answer, open ended responses. Note: Tests can be computer generated as well as paper and pencil. I will utilize new and previously acquired math terms/vocabulary. It is important for students to practice them when completing their homework. Students should access PearsonRealize website to practice skills being taught. Link can be found – Google Classroom, Class Page, School Website (Be sure to bookmark the site at home.)

Keys to Success!! Help your child stay organized. Have a quiet place at home to complete HW and study. Check grades on portal system once a week. (Friday Evenings) Remind your child to come to school prepared and ready to learn. Encourage active participation and that your child tries his/her best. When in doubt check your child’s google classroom when in need of the homework assignment or daily lesson. (This is done through his/her school email system.)
