Group 3 Control Experiments In these experiments results were taken under the control conditions for the tank. These results will be used to compare to the results obtained in the experimental tank. Temperature: 240C Salinity: 34 ppt Experiments performed: zoozanthellae count, protein assay, and chlorophyll extraction.

Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) Production and Analysis In order to know the concentration of oil to add to tank we first need to how much oil dissolves in water (WAF). Prepared 36 g of Na and 900 mL of tap water. The oil (Quaker State) was then added at a ratio of 9:1 (900ml seawater:100ml oil). The seawater and oil solution was mixed using a magnetic stirrer for 20 hours and left to settle for the next week to use in each experiment.

Today Today we will calculate the WAF. We will also try to begin the experiment by adding a estimated amount of oil and seeing what happens. By taking the 3 test counts we can determine if the added amount of oil was too much or too little.
