Distance & Displacement. Distance is a Scalar A measure of the length of a path an object takes in moving from one position to another is called distance.
Position and displacement. Describing motion Before you can predict an object’s motion, you need to be able to describe it. How do we describe an object’s.

Scalars and Vectors Review Read the following paragraph. In your notebook make a list of the scalars and vectors in this paragraph. Cardy the Cardinal walks 4 meters north and then 3 meters east. It took Cardy 5 seconds to walk this displacement. After 3 seconds Cardy realizes he left his keys in the car and runs 5 meters to his car.

Today’s Vocabulary Distance Displacement

Food for Thought During track practice, Johnny makes one full lap around the track. Johnny’s distance traveled is 400 meters Johnny’s displacement is 0 meters. How is this possible?? START FINISH

U: Unknown ( what are we looking for?) E: Equation A man is running on a football field. He runs 40 yards to the right and then turns around and runs 30 yards to the left. What is the total distance the man has traveled? What is the man’s displacement? G: Graphic ( draw it) U: Unknown ( what are we looking for?)
