Context Clues

Students will make inferences and gather meaning by using context clues to determine the meaning of unknown vocabulary. Objective

So what do we do with a context clue? Readers use context clues to help them understand the text. We make inferences based on the clues the author leaves for us in the text.

Examples of Context Clues: antonyms A word that has the opposite meaning in the sentence. The blade of grass was massive compared to the tiny ant. A word that has the same meaning is in the sentence. I hate, or detest eating onions. synonyms

Examples of Context Clues: There is a clue in part of the unknown word. I think you are overreacting to this problem.
