The End of the Islander As we continue to read make sure you: Listen carefully Use your glossary to check any key words as we go along Put your hand up and ask if there are any extra words we need to add to our glossary Read to: “Thank you; you can put the glass beside me here, and I’ll put my lips to it if I am dry.”

The story follows a traditional 3 point story arc Task – Draw the story arc and mark each chapter from the novel on the arc. EXTENSION – Add quotes Exposition – setting out important background information Climax – the most exciting and tense section of the novel Complication – something that stops the problem from being easily resolved Denouement the final part of a novel when the various strands of the plot are brought together and resolved. Language Alert!

Homework Should: Complete chapter summary for chapter 12 (and get any up to date that are missing) Could: Find the most important quotes from chapter 12 and add them to your summary. Might: ‘Explode’ these quotations.
