THE RISE OF DICTATORS You have FIVE minutes to complete this task. Using the information you gained from your jigsaw groups, think about the following questions with your ROW: What were the similarities among the totalitarian regimes? What were the differences among the totalitarian regimes? What was unique about Japan’s regime as compared to the others? What is the difference between Italy’s Fascism and Germany’s Nazism? Why do you think so many people supported these regimes? Do you think a totalitarian state could arise in the United States? You have FIVE minutes to complete this task.

With all of these various crises, what actually caused World War II? With a partner, or in a small group, read through the packet that you’ve been given. As you read, be sure that you respond to all questions in your own packets. You have twenty minutes!

THE BEGINNING: Hitler’s Lightning War

FDR’s Pearl Harbor Address Address given following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. As you are listening highlight any repetition or emotionally charged words.
