Wilson’s and Sullivan’s Scoop August 29th – Sept. 2nd What I’m Learning: This week our mentor text is The Spooky Tale of Prewitt Peacock. In Reading, visualizing to create mental pictures, rereading to gain more details, making text-to-self connections, and inferencing. In grammar, we are exploring simple subjects and simple predicates. In writing, we are building our writing community. In math, we are reviewing addition and subtraction to a thousand, rounding, and one step word problems for our tests this week. Vocabulary words and definitions: heartbreaking – very sad or upsetting fury – great anger bewildered – confused or puzzled flutter – wave or flap rapidly clutch –grab or hold onto something tightly dodge – move quickly to avoid someone or something Date: ______ Teacher News: PENNY WARS continue. Thanks for your contribution! PTO – Now is the time to join! Next Monday, Sept. 5th is our Labor Day holiday. There will be NO School. Parents, we have snack at 10:00. Please make sure your child has a snack or purchases one. All snacks are 50 cents each. Sullivan’s homeroom has P.E. on Thursday Wilson’s homeroom has P.E. on Wednesday. Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes.
