Responsible Caregiving Chapter 21

Anticipation Writing Caring for children is a challenge The job of a caregiver is a critical one because the kind of people children become is dependent on the love and guidance received from adults. Capable caregivers raise children who are well adjusted and an asset to society. When caregivers don’t handle their responsibilities well, children grow up with problems. Caring for children effectively takes a wide range of talents and qualities.

Caring for Children Have you ever done babysitting or cared for young relatives? Caregiver – People who take responsibility for raising children on a long-term or short-term basis. Capable caregivers tend to raise children who are well adjusted and an asset to society.

Kinds of Caregivers Primary Caregiver – someone who has the main responsibility for children. Guardian – someone who has legal responsibility for a child. Babysitter – someone who provides occasional care for short periods of time. Child-care professional – someone who provides longer-term care in a child-care center or family day care.
