Where in the World

Yesterday… We learned that due to the Earth’s tilt we have 4 different seasons around the world. We also learned about Sophia and James and that they were experiencing 2 different seasons in the months of December/January.

This is a table of the places and temperatures in July…

On your world map you need to chart the cities at their latitudes.

Your Task… In your group you need to chart your Cities in their correct Longitude. Use a map, atlas, globe, etc. With your team discuss your observation about the weather patterns you see.

So… What happens to the temperature as a city’s location gets closer to the Equator? Farther? If you were an animal that migrated to warmer temperatures in the winter, in what direction would you travel if you lived in North America? South America? Europe? Australia? Why do you think temperatures are higher closer to the Equator?
