REGULATIONS The Act “prohibited, except under specified conditions, the taking, including transportation, importing or possession, of fur seals and sea otters.” -exceptions included: Indians, Aleuts, and Eskimos who live on the North Pacific Ocean Coast and allowed the secretary of state to conduct research on the fur seals
MORE REGULATIONS “Title IV of the statute stipulated related enforcement responsibilities and established a Pribilof Islands fund for the purpose of implementing related activities.”
ENFORCEMENT A person who has the authority to enforce the Fur Seal Act has evidence that the Act is being violated. The vessel may then be searched; if convicted violators may be arrested.
PROTECTION Secretary of State administered the the fur seals be protected, conserved, and managed on The Pribilof Islands, as well as housing other wildlife - He also made sure that the Pribilof Island natives were given facilities, services, and equipment.
